Derek “DJ Derek” Egerman has been a professional DJ for 20+ years. He insists on every wedding and party to be fresh and special, and takes on each event as if it's the only one he has on his calendar.

In addition to those special event dates, DJ Derek stays current by consistently picking up gigs in the area’s hottest clubs and bars, such as The Russian Lady, The Rocking Horse Saloon, the various regional Wood ‘N Taps and Vaughan’s. You may find him on a float in the Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade, at the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos, or even at a college or professional sporting event.

DJ Derek was voted Best DJ by The Hartford Advocate and was featured several times on “The Knot.” Weddings are certainly a specialty.

“I believe the focus of a wedding truly should be on the bride and groom, and their family and friends, “ says DJ Derek. “I’m not there to ‘perform’ or do ‘a show.’ My job is to help set the scene.”

As a musician from a young age, DJ Derek is open to every genre of music. “It’s my job to give the client exactly what they want,” says Derek. “Although I do like just about everything, in the end it’s not my opinion that really matters. I don’t understand when I hear about other DJ’s not playing what the client wants. That’s nuts!.”

But don’t expect your parent’s wedding reception when you choose DJ Derek for your special day. “There’s so much good music out there,” says Derek. “Why just rely on the cheesy traditional stuff?”

“I will happily play whatever the client wants,” says Derek. “But I see no reason to only rely on the standards- unless that’s what you are looking for- and then I’m fully on board- the client is the boss. Period.”
